Identified hosts?
Yes. Daniel Paige

Explained what the show is about?
Yes. He said it’s just to keep listeners up on what he’s doing and what he’s thinking.

Time to topic
Almost immediately. Good stuff

Show structure/type
One host. Monologue

Topic(s) discussed
Fighting with his landlord over a rent increase | anxiety and depression | he’s an advocate for mental health and helps how he can | dealing with mental illness at work | never being afraid to speak up | meditation | postivie reinforcement | why he started his website | how music is like therapy for him | his favorite band (Disciple) | his experience at the Disciple concert | how his music tastes have changed since getting older | the terror at the Ariana grande concert | his blog post he wrote about said terror attack | the dbag commenter on his post | his deleted YouTube account | his problem with people making light of death.

Audio quality
I was able to clearly hear and understand everything Daniel said. COULD he use an improvement? Of course. Does he NEED to upgrade the audio at this time? Nope. As I said, I heard him loud and clear and didn’t have to adjust my audio at all.

Passion/personality
Most definitely. Daniel was VERY passionate about all the topics and his personality let that shine through. It was easy to stay engaged because of his energy.

Mentioned socials/site(s)?
Yes. MusicLoverNews.com (i’m surprised he was able to snag this domain name)

Mentioned schedule?
Yes. Once in a blue moon. I know the “gurus” say all the time “you have to be consistent”, but I believe more in “you have to be honest”. I think your audience respects it MUCH more if you say “hey, I’m going to be doing this whenever I feel like” instead of “I’m dropping a new show every week”, but then fail to do so. Daniel said he’s busy with other things and that will keep him from consistently doing the show.

Mentioned hashtag?
No. I’d suggest #suckMyMusic (hasn’t been used since Feb 2016) or #MLNpod (mlnpod is empty on twitter)

Asked anything of the audience/call-to-action(CTA)?
Yes. He asked that we check out his blog. I like this, because I think the blog is where he wants to dedicate his time. If that’s the case, why not ask people to visit? I would suggest adding a “why”. As in, “check out my blog for more in-depth articles”..or whatever.

Summary
First off, I LOVE the name “Suck My Music”. It’s hilarious af.

Second…I was really into this podcast episode. It felt like Daniel just turned on the mic and went into GO mode. It should actually be a lesson to folks who are struggling with starting because they may be paralyzed with fear. Daniel’s approach wasn’t polished, it was just real. He mixed passion with story telling, a little humor and easily moved through different topics. In a short, but potent 22 minutes, Daniel was able to convey his personality, his passion (music), why he’s a mental health advocate and how he felt about something we all knew about (the Manchester bombing). This combo made Daniel VERY relate-able. It made him very human. It’s a formula that will definitely garner some passionate listeners as the show grows.

Recommendation
I have one recommendation for Daniel. I would put the podcast (and every episode in the future) on it’s own page. Right now, it’s on the front page of his site. This is perfectly fine for someone who is casually browsing, but it’s not ideal for sharing.

For instance, I was on Twitter and came across this tweet:

When I clicked on it, I had to scroll to the bottom of the page to get to the player (I was on my phone).

I’d recommend creating a new page for every episode and including show notes for each. This way, his tweets will include a link that would take a potential listener directly to a page where they can scan quickly and click a play button.

Remember, it’s always important to make things as easy as possible for people to consume and interact with your content.
